Special Initiatives

Since its creation in September 2022, the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts has undertaken a number of special initiatives designed to bring greater visibility to the arts at Ohio State, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and community partnerships, and ensure that our students have the skills and resources they need to find meaningful, fulfilling careers in the arts, should they choose to go that route.

Visiting Artist Program

Ohio State’s visiting artist program invites nationally and internationally acclaimed figures in the fields of literature or the visual and performing arts.

Artist Laureate Program

The Artist Laureate program is designed to bring the arts to underserved communities across the state.

Arts Creation and Spark Grants

Spark Grants and Arts Creation Grants are designed to provide seed funding for community-engaged arts projects and foster new, impactful, arts-led research and creative work.

Experiential Learning and Internships

In addition to the training in their craft that Ohio State students in the arts receive, the university has partnered with community arts organizations to provide students with practical, real-world experience, while also enabling those organizations to build capacity or launch new initiatives.

Special Performances

A special performance series in partnership with the Wexner Center for the Arts.
