Committee for Public Art

The Committee for Public Art (formerly known as and evolving from the Campus Arts and Memorials Committee) is a university-wide committee entrusted with advising on collection management. This entity, chaired by the Campus Art Collection Manager, advises the Campus Art Collection Manager and the Vice Provost for the Arts on proposals for the development of art projects in public spaces on and within university facilities and grounds. The committee is charged with thoughtfully reviewing all proposals submitted by university offices, departments, groups, and other entities and recommending to the Provost implementation, modification, or rejection of the proposals.

In keeping with its land grant status and academic mission, The Ohio State University aims to build a curated, world-class collection of public art, accessible to all, that enriches the campus’s physical environment, stimulates reflection and discussion, inspires creativity, and gathers a thoughtful, diverse, and attentive community around it.
