Nominations for Ohio State Artist Laureate
Nominations for Ohio State Artist Laureate
The Office of Academic Affairs will be seeking nominations for next year’s Ohio State Artist Laureate later in the academic year. The program is designed to help the university enhance impact through external engagement. The aim is to bring the arts to underserved communities across the state and to engage with those communities in shared experiences that will, ideally, enrich and inform audience and Laureate alike.
The Laureate will be selected through a competitive process and granted financial support for a 50 percent course release for the academic year and $15,000 to enable travel to regional campuses and other university sites and communities across Ohio to exhibit, perform, read or otherwise share their work with a diverse set of audiences, in urban, rural, suburban and metropolitan areas. At present, the competition is open only to tenured faculty and is not eligible for renewal; projects must be completed by June 31 of the Artist Laureate's year.
Interested faculty should submit:
- a copy of their CV,
- a letter of support from their department chair or school director, and
- answers to the following two questions (maximum 1000 words total):
- Why do you want to be the Ohio State Artist Laureate?
- What activities or events would you propose in this role?
Applications and questions should be addressed to Lisa Florman, Vice Provost for the Arts, at florman.4@osu.edu.
Nominations will be due in the spring for the following academic year.
