Artist Laureate 2024-25
The current Ohio State Artist Laureate is Kevin McClatchy, associate professor in the Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts. McClatchy oversees the acting curriculum in the department and also serves as both director of the Shakespeare and Autism Project and lead facilitator for the Shakespeare and Veterans Initiative, the latter in collaboration with the Columbus Department of Veterans Affairs.
As Artist Laureate, McClatchy has committed the summer and fall of 2024 to offerings of his interactive Shakespeare and Autism workshops for Ohio’s autism community. January to June of 2025 will be given over to an expansion of his interactive solo show Scrap Heap, which is intended to engage military veterans, active personnel, family members and mental health professionals across the state.
McClatchy recently held a residency at the Wexner Center for the Arts while he developed Scrap Heap. His other acting credits include The Tempest at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and various film and television roles. McClatchy is a member of the Actors' Equity Association, SAG/AFTRA and the Voice and Speech Trainer Association.
