John Canemaker is an independent animator, animation historian, author and teacher. A founding member of the animation department at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, he has directed the program since 1988. His film The Moon and the Son: An Imagined Conversation (2006) won both an Academy Award for best animated short and an Emmy for its graphic and artistic design. He is a past Wexner Center Residency Award recipient.
