Room 125 and Multipurpose Room 165
Join us as we celebrate the opening of the new exhibit, “Essential Ingredients: Cookbooks as History.” For this exhibit, we draw from the Rare Books & Manuscripts Library’s collection of nearly 10,000 volumes, celebrating more than 200 years of American cookbooks and their unique ability to offer windows into cultures and histories.
We’ll start the evening with a curator-led tour of the exhibit and follow up with a conversation with Chef Avishar Barua. Chef Barua is the chef and owner of Joya’s and Agni and has appeared on Top Chef and Beat Bobby Flay.
4-4:45 p.m.: Attend a guided tour of the “Essential Ingredients: Cookbooks as History” exhibit with curators Jolie Braun and Elizabeth Hewitt (Thompson Gallery, room 125)
5-6 p.m.: Sit in on a conversation about food, cooking and cookbooks with local chef, Avishar Barua (Thompson 165)
This event is free and open to the public, however, registration is required. Refreshments will be provided. Learn more about the exhibit here.
