Carmen Salem

Carmen Selam is a multidisciplinary artist working across the mediums of painting, printmaking and ceramics, as well as the traditional tribal arts of weaving and beadwork. Selam is Yakama and Comanche — she refers to herself as “Yakamanche” — and uses imagery drawn from popular culture as a means of engaging the untold history of indigenous America.
