Visiting Artist 2025

Breena Nuñez is a Bay Area-cartoonist and part-time faculty member at the California College of the Arts whose diaristic comics often explore issues related to the awkwardness of racism and what it means to be a Central American—as well as a queer Afrodescendiente — in the United States. Nuñez’s works are primarily zines published through the family-run small press she co-founded, Laneha House, though some comics have appeared in other publications, including The New Yorker and The Nib, as well as in anthologies such as Tales From La Vida: A Latinx Comics Anthology; Drawing Power (Eisner Award Winner 2020); Be Gay, Do Comics! (Ignatz Award Winner 2020); and When Language Broke Open.
