Herbert De Paz
Herbert De Paz
Visiting Artist 2026-27
Herbert De Paz (Santa Tecla, El Salvador, 1991) lives and works between El Salvador and Rio de Janeiro since 2013. His artistic practice operates as an intimate archaeology of fragments, articulating archaeological records, childhood memories, and the lacunae left by geographical displacement. Far from a documentary reconstruction, his work investigates the visuality of fractured territories to reorder narratives of belonging, creating a poetic space where myth and quiet daily life cohabit the canvas as forms of permanence and spiritual resistance. During his time at Ohio State, De Paz will have his work exhibited at the Intercultural Gallery at Hagerty Hall, with an Opening Reception scheduled for September 30, 2026. Additionally, he will present a scholarly talk on September 2, 2026, collaborate with local artist Cat Ramos, and visit undergraduate classes and local K-12 schools.
