Sandi DuBowski Master Class
Filmmaker Sandi DuBowski leads a unique master class about the difficult and creative editing process of wrangling 21 years of footage into the feature film Sabbath Queen.

Film/Video Theater
Filmmakers, storytellers, editors, and anyone curious about the artistic process won’t want to miss this look behind the scenes of the making of Sabbath Queen, led by the director. The film follows Rabbi Amichai Lau-Lavie’s epic journey to radically reinvent religion, challenge patriarchy, champion interfaith love, and stand up for peace in a difficult and rapidly changing 21st century. Sabbath Queen was edited down from 3,000 hours of original and archival footage. As the filmmakers tried to find a shape for the film they reached multiple dead ends. DuBowski will show clips from the film, as well as a short video showing the process of adding his own voice to the film. We recommend attending the full screening of Sabbath Queen Thursday, September 4, at 7 PM before attending this master class. (program approx. 75 mins.)
