A chance encounter between a well-known film director and a fledgling painter becomes an ambling meditation on relationships in Hong Sangsoo’s wry and gentle Right Now, Wrong Then. A surprising twist invites viewers to consider the weight of small details and divides the film into two halves: “Right Then, Wrong Now” and “Right Now, Wrong Then.” Described as “a kind and beautiful film” by Cinema Scope, this program was curated by Cinéseries member and Treasurer Amalia Herzog. In the words of Cinéseries’ members: Cinéseries is a student-led group that organizes monthly screenings in collaboration with the Wexner Center for the Arts. We aim to offer a space for students and the community to engage with film and expanded cinema from makers of a variety of backgrounds. We aspire to create an environment conducive to critical engagement by inviting filmmakers to showcase work that takes risks, challenges norms, and opens a conversation by devoting to a wide range of artist-centered and independent media.
