Cartoon Crossroads Columbus

Director John Musker, with his collaborator Ron Clements, is responsible for the creation of some of the most beloved Disney animated classics of the past 40 years, including The Little Mermaid (1989), Aladdin (1992), Hercules (1997), Moana (2016), and more. Following his retirement from the studio in 2018, Musker embarked on the creation of the charming, hand-drawn short I’m Hip (4 mins., DCP) about a jazz-obsessed cat trying to prove his “coolness” to anyone he meets. For this presentation Musker uses his short to demonstrate his approach to character creation, movement, design, and more. A Q&A follows the presentation. (program approx. 60 mins.)
