Deep Listening: The Story of Pauline Oliveros tells the story of the revolutionary composer and humanitarian. Through interviews with Oliveros and her peers, the film illuminates her story as one of the first electronic musicians and creator of the concept of Deep Listening. Oliveros was a teacher and mentor to musicians, a gateway to music and sound for nonmusicians, and a technological innovator. Throughout her career Oliveros helped develop everything from tools that allow musicians to play together while in different countries to software that enables those with severe disabilities to create beautiful music. With appearances by Laurie Anderson, Claire Chase, Alvin Lucier, Thurston Moore, Terry Riley, and other groundbreaking artists. (117 mins., DCP)

Introduced by acclaimed musician, interdisciplinary artist, and educator Claire Chase. Chase will return to the Wex on April 12 to lead a Day of Listening session.
