Baumer Lecture Series, Todd BenDor
Todd BenDor is the Distinguished Professor of Sustainable Community Design at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC, Dr. BenDor also chairs the Department of City and Regional Planning. He previously directed UNC’s Odum Institute for Research in Social Science, a social data science center that helps students, faculty and staff improve the quality, rigor and reproducibility of their research through consultation and training.

Dr. BenDor’s teaching and mentoring focus on environmental and development impact assessment, climate resilience, watershed planning, systems thinking and modelling, and urban spatial structure. His research primarily addresses ecological restoration and climate adaptation policy, where he seeks to understand and predict urban growth impacts, improve the outcomes of environmental markets, and develop urban resilience policies, including floodplain buyouts and flood insurance.
