Gonzalo Cruz is a design principal for New York and leads AECOM’s Landscape Architecture and Urban Design (LAUD) practice.
Based in New York, he works across the Americas and is recognized for his interdisciplinary approach to landscape architecture and urban design, with a focus on the intersection of infrastructure, public space, climate resilience, and placemaking.
Cruz has led the design of award-winning projects including Liberty Park at the World Trade Center, the Lower Manhattan Coastal Resilience Master Plan, Sendero Verde in East Harlem, and the South Battery Park City Resiliency Project, including the transformation of Wagner Park.
Cruz’s work brings together landscape architecture, urban design, and community engagement to create resilient and inclusive public spaces. A graduate of Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and the Spitzer School of Architecture at The City College of New York, Cruz is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects and serves on the Executive Committee of the Landscape Architecture Foundation.
