Faculty and Staff Grants

Grants for Faculty
The college supports grants to College of the Arts faculty for all forms of scholarly and creative research. The college is also eager to work with faculty to develop external sponsorship for individual and collaborative projects.

Grants for Research and Creative Activity in the Arts and Humanities, 2007-2008

Grants of up to $10,000, $20,000, and $40,000 will be awarded by the Colleges of the Arts and Humanities to individual faculty members or small groups of faculty beginning new research or creative projects in the arts and humanities. Individual applications will be eligible for up to $10,000, group applications within a single college will be eligible for up to $20,000, and group applications across the two colleges will be eligible for up to $40,000 in Arts & Humanities funds through this program. New research proposals focused on book projects, exhibitions, performances, curricular projects, workshops, off-campus research, pedagogy, and interdisciplinary work are welcome, as well as any other projects that fall under the general heading of this program. The tiered awards are intended to reward faculty who collaborate with others outside of their particular disciplines: the wider the span between the disciplines, the greater the opportunities for funding.

Staff Professional Development Grants Program

The Staff Development Grants Program supports professional enrichment or development opportunities and specialized activities that advance or re-focus the development of skills such as:
• costs for participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, training programs, or meetings
• books, software, or materials related to the area of professional enrichment/development
• equipment that broadens or deepens skills or advances an applicant's professional development or career aspirations (equipment requests based on increased speed/time saving, ease, or convenience are strongly discouraged)
• child/elder-care expenses necessary for participation in professional development opportunities/activities

Appropriate professional development opportunities/activities may relate to an individual's current staff position or to professional development objective or career development not directly related to that position. Employing units are solely responsible for funding equipment, training, or materials costs required for staff members to perform existing or new job duties.
