Public Art Concepts & Development: Easton Town Center

The Department of Art Art 895 & Art 691 Studio course, taught this past
spring by Professor Todd Slaughter, included an overview and study of contemporary
art works that have helped define public art in North America over the
past several decades. Integral to the course, the sixteen undergraduate
and graduate students from the Department of Art and Knowlton School of
Architecture where each charged with developing a temporary artwork for
a specific site within Easton Town Center, Columbus. They presented their
concepts, plans, drawings, and models to a jury on June 5th. The results
of this process were presented in the Hopkins Hall Gallery.
A single selected artwork, by student Ryan Ross, funded by Easton Town Center
at $25,000, will be installed at Easton in February of 2009, remaining until
November.
