Join us in welcoming to the Department of Art Post-MFA Fellows Kurt Anderson, ceramics, and Munro Galloway, painting and drawing; and this year’s visiting lecturers: Ginnie Baer, Molly Burke, Ian Cross, Casey Doyle, Mary Fahy, Grant Fletcher, Allison Grimes, Merijn van der Heijden, Ian Magargee, Larissa Mellor, Zuzana Muranicová, Colleen Oakes, Brad Olson, and others.

An exhibition by the entire Department of Art faculty that contains their individual answers to the proverbial “What is…” riddle. Whether their responses can be traced to publications or dichotomies or nestled opposites or culturally specific color theory, or literary connections or political stereotypes—we look forward to another dynamic exhibition of works by: Mary Jo Bole, Carmel Buckley, Malcolm Cochran, Alison Crocetta, Robert Ladislas Derr, Sean Foley, Ann Hamilton, Richard Harned, Rebecca Harvey, Harris Kagan, Scot Kaplan, Laura Lisbon, Charles Massey, Jr., Tony Mendoza, Michael Mercil, Ardine Nelson, Ken Rinaldo, Kate Shannon, Dan Shellenbarger, Suzanne Silver, Sergio Soave, Todd Slaughter, John Thrasher, Steve Thurston, Ed Valentine, Pheoris West and Amy Youngs.

Reception immediately following the presentation at Hopkins Hall Gallery + Corridor
In this year’s New Works faculty exhibitions we are pleased to feature in three back-to-back exhibitions the studio research of five individual faculty members. In a solo exhibition running October 13–23, Ardine Nelson, photography, presents Indoor/Outdoor, large-scale color photographs from the Schrebergartens, storefronts, and ceilings series. In a two person exhibition, on view October 26–November 6, Ed Valentine, painting and drawing (Lima Campus), presents Imaginary Portraits and Amy Youngs, art + technology, shows documentation of site specific projects exhibited locally and internationally during the past year. The final show in the series, November 9–19, features Tony Mendoza, photography, with selections from Bob and Friends and Richard Harned, glass, exhibiting the not-to-be-missed First Known Perfect Magic Cube & other things. All faculty exhibiting in the New Works series were on Full Professional Leave during the 07–08 or the 08–09 academic year.

Department of Art Senior Projects Exhibition, Fall ‘09
