Robbie McCauley
presents Sugar
Award winning theatre artist Robbie McCauley culminates a 12-day residency at OSU with Sugar, a solo work-in-progress to be presented at 8 pm Friday, Jan 13, and Saturday, Jan 14, in Roy Bowen Theatre on campus. Sugar examines McCauley’s struggle with diabetes as connected to slavery, war, work, romance and food.
Before each production of Sugar, Marie Cieri, OSU Department of Geography, will discuss excerpts from Primary Sources, a series of multi-media theatre works where McCauley dealt with race and class relations in America. Following each production, the audience will be invited to discuss the piece with McCauley.
During her residency, McCauley will teach classes and workshops in Geography, Theatre, the Multicultural Center and the Center for Latin American Studies. She currently teaches at Emerson College in Boston.
Presented by the Departments of Geography and Theatre. Co-sponsored by the Multicultural Center and Its Collaborative Partners, Hispanic Student Services and Women Student Services, within the Multicultural Center; Department of Art Visitors Series with the Living Culture Initiative; College of the Arts; Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity; Latino/a Studies; and Colleges of the Arts and Sciences. |
