Written in 1936, Aaron Copland called The Cradle Will Rock a welter of contradictions: naughty, thoughtful, abrasive, passionate and funny; taking certain pleasure in needling the audience and telling unpleasant truths straight to their faces. OSU Theatre and the School of Music invite you to the Steeltown Jail on the eve of the Steelworkers Union rally. You’ll meet Moll, a streetwalker; The Liberty Committee, a group of distinguished citizens that have sold out their principles for cash and power; Harry, a once thriving drug store owner turned drunken vagrant; Mister Mister, Steeltown’s real boss who has everything his own way, apart from his vapid wife, sex-obsessed daughter, and doltish son; and Larry, the union organizer who refuses to be bought by Mister Mister.

Jointly produced by the OSU Department of Theatre and School of Music
