Professor Odita teaches the history of Traditional African Art and Contemporary
African Art to students in the Department of History of Art at OSU. He
has consistently exhibited as a painter and has published extensively
on the theory and practice of both traditional and contemporary arts of
Africa. Dr. Odita has authored over 30 articles in numerous art historical
and African Studies journals and has received numerous national and international
grant awards and honors. Appearing on national and international televisions,
he has discussed critical issues in African art. He is the creator of
the first Graduate Program in the History of Contemporary African Art
in the US.
