Professor Green is associate professor of film studies in the Department
of History of Art at OSU. His writings on early 20th century African-American
independent filmmaker Oscar Micheaux and other topics have appeared in
journals such as CINEMA JOURNAL, FILM QUARTERLY, GRIFFITHIANA, BLACK FILM
REVIEW, and JOURNAL OF FILM AND VIDEO and books such as BLACK AMERICAN
CINEMA and FILM/CULTURE. He has presented papers at many conferences,
universities, and museums, including international venues such as Glasgow,
Grenoble, and Pordenone, Bellagio. Dr. Green is the author of STRAIGHT
LICK: THE CINEMA OF OSCAR MICHEAUX. His interview on Micheaux was featured
on National Public Radio's "Weekend Edition". He has served
as president of the National Alliance of Media Arts Centers, trustee of
the American Film Institute, chair of the Department of Photography and
Cinema at OSU, director of Media Study/Buffalo, and assistant director
of the Media Arts Program at the National Endowment for the Arts.
