AssociateProfessor of Art Education at The Ohio State University, Dr. Stout has authored two books, The Flower Teachers: Stories for a New Generation and Critical Thinking and Writing About Art. She has published in Studies in Art Education, the Journal of Art Education, Visual Arts Research, The Elementary Journal, the Journal of Multicultural and Cross-cultural Research in Art Education, the Journal of Teacher Education, and the Journal of Thought. She has contributed chapters on empathy and the nature of imagination to the edited collections of Portelli and Hare’s Philosophy of Education: Introductory Readings and Key Questions for Educators.  She serves as reviewer for multiple scholarly journals and is currently Senior Editor for the research journal of the National Art Education Association: Studies in Art Education. Studio interests are in darkroom photography.
