James H. Sanders III

Assistant Professor, Department of Art Education

Sanders' research has explored arts education pedagogy and policy, arts organization management practices and social change initiatives, arts-based research, visual culture, gay and lesbian studies, and queer theory. His current research examines arts policy and practice through a critical and queer theoretical lens; exploring sites of cultural (re)production and reception that include museums, community arts organizations, digital media, and arts education classrooms. Centrally concerned with how meanings and values are socially constructed and contested, this interdisciplinary work is committed to collaborative inquiry, presentation and publication.
