Special Units
At Ohio State, research in the arts and design is expanding
at a very rapid pace. The creation of art and design continuously takes
new forms. The documentation and analysis of the arts also takes new forms.
We are fortunate to be a College of the Arts within a major research institution.
It is part of our mission and our culture to be adventurous and entrepreneurial,
and to seek new challenges and new knowledge. We invite you to visit the
following special units of the college:

Music Cognition
Why are humans so obsessed with music? That is the fundamental question
involving the research focus of the Music Cognition Lab headed by Professor
David Huron. Cognition approaches the study of music as a product of human
minds and brains. The field involves psychologists, music theorists, systematic
musicologists, ethnomusicologists, cognitive scientists, and philosophers.

being the most comprehensive collection of its kind, The Huntington Archive
includes the largest photographic archive of Nepali art and architecture
in the world and represents the only formal collection that photographically
records this country's artistic heritage. The Huntington Archive is a
